Aussie Kids Bucket List

Aussie Kids Bucket List

Wotif.com recently announced their ‘Aussie Kids Bucket List’, a definitive list of 13 dream Aussie travel experiences to do before the age of 13, as voted by Aussie kids.

The results of the survey prove that our kids are young adventurers, excited to explore their own backyard. From sleeping underground in Coober Pedy to snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef and discovering Aboriginal culture in the Northern Territory, it’s so good to see a mix of educational and adventurous experiences while showcasing the diverse landscapes and unique wildlife our beautiful country has to offer.

The results revealed that 61% of Aussie kids are eager to try different travel experiences here at home with Queensland voted as the number one destination. From the thrilling theme park rides on the Gold Coast to discovering Australia’s Dinosaur trail in Far North Queensland, its popularity amongst kids (and probably adults!) is no surprise.

Check out the awesome places that made it to the Wotif Aussie Kids Bucket List. Some of the top attractions feature in our most popular tours. Let’s delve into them…

Tick off the Gold Coast theme parks, QLD #1

On a WorldStrides Gold Coast tour, students experience an action-packed theme park adventure at Dreamworld, Wet’n’Wild and Movie World, challenge themselves in a surfing lesson and embark on an eco-adventure at Mount Tamborine.

Snorkel the Great Barrier Reef, QLD #2

On a WorldStrides Cairns tour, every day is a new adventure! Enjoy a full day exploring the Great Barrier Reef, from spotting coral, fish and turtles on a snorkelling adventure to slipping and sliding down the theme park water slide. Students will also get to explore the Daintree Rainforest and discover the biology, ecology and antiquity of the forest environment, visit Fitzroy Island and come face to face with giant crocs!

Learn about Aboriginal culture at Uluru, NT #3

Surrounded by the timeless landscapes of desert plains, mountain ranges and dramatic gorges, there’s no better place to learn about Aboriginal culture than on a WorldStrides tour to Central Australia. Through hands-on learning experiences, students gain an authentic understanding of the oldest culture in the world.

Spotting wildlife, waterfalls and crocs in Kakadu, NT #6

One of the highlights on a WorldStrides tour to the Northern Territory is a day trip to Kakadu National Park. Enjoy a sunrise cruise along the Yellow Waters Lagoon where you’ll see the abundant wildlife – majestic Jabiru Storks, Mudskippers and Rainbow birds. Keep an eye out for the saltwater crocodiles!

Discover Australia’s Dinosaur Trail, QLD #7

On a WorldStrides Dinosaur Trail tour to outback Queensland, students discover real-life fossils in Richmond, Hughenden and Winton, watch a paleontologist give a fossil preparation demonstration, and participate in fossil hunting. They’ll also see a life-size skeletal replica of a 7-metre dinosaur found in Flinders Shire!

Sleep underground in Coober Pedy, SA #12

A visit to Coober Pedy is a must for school groups visiting Central Australia due to its unique landscape and geology, rich history, underground lifestyle and Aboriginal culture. Camping underground is an experience unique to the town something students will remember for years to come!

Explore Questacon in Canberra, ACT #13

On a WorldStrides tour to Canberra, many schools choose an evening program where students get an exclusive guided tour through the centre and get hands-on with everything science. From freezing your own shadow to experiencing an earthquake and challenging a robot to a game of air hockey, there’s plenty of adventures to be had!
