WorldStrides Professional Development

Education is at the heart of what we do at WorldStrides and that not only extends to weaving experiential learning into our tours but also providing tools and resources for educators to use in the classroom.

Throughout the year, members of WorldStrides Curriculum & Academics team run fun, interactive and informative Professional Development webinars for teachers all over the country, covering an array of subject areas. We’re delighted to be able to offer this program at no cost to teachers across Australia and New Zealand. Plus we’ll send you a certificate at the completion of the webinar so you can log the hour of professional learning towards your annual registration.

Hear what teachers have to say about our PD webinars…

“The PD was great. Interesting, detailed and useful. It didn’t lag so I was fully engaged for the whole hour.”
“The session was informative, helpful, and interesting. The chat allowed for the sharing of ideas around the nation, and the zoom was conducted brilliantly.”

Seeing the World in New Ways (by Using Maps in New Ways)

How can we enable students to see beyond the classroom and to see the world – and themselves – in new ways?

Today, learning the importance of perspective is crucial to understanding the multicultural world in which we live and developing global competency. Maps can be the vehicle to take them there! Let’s consider maps as conversation starters and centrepieces of learning that engage all students, pushing their critical thinking and encouraging them to explore different perspectives.

While maps often can be found in the geography classroom, we will share ways to embed maps across the curriculum, including in your math, science, language, and performing and visual arts classes.

Educators will receive a resource kit packed with content-area-specific activities, articles, virtual learning tools, online resources, and some of our favourite maps.
