On the 26th September a group of French language teachers from around Australia departed for G.E.T Educational Tours’ New Caledonia Teacher Training Trip. Our group of eleven spent four days travelling around Noumea gaining first-hand knowledge of what it’s like for our students to experience a G.E.T French Language Tour in New Caledonia. From cultural centres, local markets, French language classes, and a day trip to Amedee Island, our teacher group was immersed in the culture, sights and smells of New Caledonia and created lasting memories. Read on to find out what the group experienced each day on this amazing Teacher Training Trip in New Caledonia.
Day 1 – After a short flight from Sydney to Noumea our group transferred to the idyllic Anse Vata beachfront and checked into Hotel Nouvata Park. After some time to rest and explore the surroundings, our group set off on foot for a delicious and well deserved dinner at Pizza & Pasta restaurant.
Day 2 – After starting the morning with a delicious buffet breakfast at Hotel Nouvata Park, our group started the day with a self-guided tour of the Tjibaou Cultural Centre. It was then onto Port Moselle and Noumea centre for time to explore the downtown area and wander through the local market stalls. The afternoon was spent at CREIPAC for a tour of the French language school and hearing from the CREIPAC educators on the different aspects of their learning facility. Our group then journeyed back to Hotel Nouvata Park for a private tour with Julie Cassins, the hotel,s Sales Manager, to see the group accommodation facilities for student tours. In the evening a special dinner at Le Roof was hosted by Phillippe Artigue, Marketing and Communications Director of New Caledonia Tourism.
Day 3 – After another filling buffet breakfast at Hotel Nouvata Park, our group set off to Port Moselle and boarded the Mary D Seven for a short 45 minute ride to the tropical Amadee Island. With white sandy beaches, crystal clear blue water, sun lounges and a coral reef just steps away, our group had truly touched down in heaven. After a brief orientation our group was able to enjoy the many activities the island had to offer, such as swimming, stand up paddle-boarding and snorkeling where you can explore the beautiful sea life and coral. Five of our teachers also made the journey up to the top of Armadee Island’s lighthouse for an unforgettable 360-degree view of the island. Lunch was provided and made on the island which was a beautiful spread of traditional cuisine all before traditional local dancers and musicians took to the stage as light entertainment. After a full day exploring the island, our group made the boat journey home and it was back to the hotel for a quick stop before an evening stroll to La Gavotte Restaurant for delicious local Crepes.
Day 4 – It was time to say goodbye to Noumea and begin the journey back to Australia. Great experiences, beautiful memories and new friendships were made on this truly amazing Teacher Training Trip in New Caledonia.
