Melbourne City Mission (MCM) is a charity organisation that (among many other initiatives) work to reduce youth homelessness in Victoria. On Thursday 16 May, 8 of our very own team members joined 1900 others to brave the cold, uncomfortable conditions for Sleep at the ‘G, a mass sleepover at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to raise money and awareness for our state’s most vulnerable.
Can you imagine being a teenager with no safe place to call home? Being homeless is traumatic – and often dangerous. Yet every night in Victoria, it’s a reality for 6,000 young people, most of whom are victims of circumstance.
The WorldStrides team have currently raised over $4000 for the cause and the more money they can help raise, the more young people MCM can support through a range of services and locations – increasing their impact and moving closer to their goal to ‘put youth homelessness to bed’.
There’s still time to make a donation to MCM – visit our team page to help end youth homelessness in Melbourne or visit www.sleepattheg.com.au to find out more.
