From the battlements you can see over green plains and hills all the way to the Pyrenées. Troglodyte Village guided visit
Carved out by hand starting in the 12th century to extract tuffeau stone for building, the Cave aux Moines later found new life in the early 20th century as a mushroom farm. The cave’s entrance and first galleries once served as homes in a unique form of underground living known as “troglodyte” life, where people and animals shared space in a close-knit community.
Dinner in Troglodyte Village
Explore La Cave aux Moines, a network of underground galleries carved into the limestone beginning in the 12th century to extract tuffeau stone for construction. Over time, portions of the caves became troglodyte dwellings, where people and animals lived together. Mont-Saint-Michel monastery visit
Wander through this medieval monastery’s ancient halls, learn about its stunning Gothic architecture, visit the impressive abbey church, and enjoy panoramic views of the bay’s natural beauty.
Normandy D-Day landing beaches
Visit the D-Day beaches, where thousands of Allied troops landed on 6 June 1944 in the pivotal effort to liberate Western Europe. Along the coast, preserved German bunkers stand as memorials, while the rows of white crosses and Stars of David in nearby cemeteries serve as powerful reminders of the sacrifices made during the Second World War.
Arromanches D-Day Museum visit
Ingenious engineering enabled Allied forces to land at Arromanches during the D-Day operations, where an artificial harbour was constructed using massive concrete structures. Barges, jetties and 16 kilometres of floating roadways helped bring troops and supplies ashore. At the Arromanches Museum, dioramas, models and interactive displays bring this remarkable feat of wartime engineering to life.
