Your Adventure, Day by Day

Day 1 Kota Kinabalu
  • Welcome to Borneo Upon your arrival, meet with your guide and transfer to your hotel
  • Mari Mari Cultural Village Journey to the Mari Mari cultural village, during this interactive experience you'll learn about the 5 main tribes of Sabah and their lives and culture
Day 2 Kota Kinabalu
  • Marine experience Learn about the delicate marine life and reef in the crystal clear waters in Tunku Abdul Marine park located just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu. The day will be spent snorkelling at around 3 different sites in the marine park and conducting a survey
  • Dinner Enjoy a delicious seafood dinner as you check out the island's seafood stalls along the waterfront
Day 3 Kota Kinabalu | Sabah Tea Plantation
  • Wetlands On the way to the Sabah Tea Garden, stop at the Kota Kinabalu wetlands to learn about the importance of the mangrove swamps to the environment
  • After a walk around the mangroves, taste some local delights as you stop for lunch before making your way to Kinabalu Park
  • Mt Kinabalu Stop by Kinabalu National Park and take in the stunning mountain views on their many walking trails. Home to Mt Kinabalu - one of the youngest non-volcanic mountains in the world - Kinabalu National Park was Malaysia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Sabah Tea Plantation Make your way to the Sabah Tea Plantation where you will stay for the night
Day 4 Sabah Tea Plantation
  • Sabah Tea Begin the day with a sunrise walk through the tea plantation. Harvest tea leaves with the local staff before heading back for breakfast.
  • Visit the tea factory and learn how tea is made. Afterwards there's time to walk along the river and swim in the lake
  • After lunch it's time to try your hand at making your very own tea
Day 5 Kinabatangan Wildlife Lodge
  • On the move On the way to your next destination, stop by the Bilit - a small village on the banks of the Kinabatangan River where you'll visit the Batu Sapi palm oil plantation. Learn about the palm oil plants as well as the RSPO sustainable practices they have implemented
  • Wildlife experience Afterwards transfer to your boat and cruise along the Kinabatangan River - Malaysia's second longest river - as you make your way to the jungle lodge. Once checked in, enjoy a river cruise in search of the native wildlife
  • Night tour After dark, take a guided walk through the surrounding jungle in search of creepy crawlies and nocturnal animals
Day 6 Kinabatangan Wildlife Lodge
  • Explore Head out on the river in search of more wildlife. Afterwards groups will offset their environmental impact by planting trees which also help to support the local villages
  • Hike Embark on a hike to Oxbow Lake, a U-shaped body of water that forms when a wide meander from the main stem of a river is cut off, creating a free-standing body of water
  • Cruise Take a final river cruise in search of wildlife
  • Optional activity For the energetic we can arrange for a game of mini football with the children from the local village –this is a good opportunity for you to practice your Bahasa Malaysian
Day 7 Sepilok
  • Caves Begin your journey to Sepilok. On the way, stop by the Gomantong caves
  • Afternoon leisure Upon your arrival in Sepilok, enjoy lunch and some free time to relax and unwind
Day 8 Sepilok
  • Rainforest discovery Visit the nearby rainforest discovery centre where you will watch a presentation about the biodiversity of the rainforest and take to the treetops on a canopy walk and guided trails
  • Conservation centre Visit the newly opened Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. This wonderful new centre takes care of rescued Sun Bears that have spent many years mistreated and locked away in cages. The centre aims to give the bears a better life by caring for them with the hope of reintroducing them back into the wild
Day 9 Sepilok
  • Orangutan experience Visit The Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre that was set up to help re-introduce orangutans back into the wild after a life of domestication or having been orphaned. From the viewing platform, you can watch the monkeys as they swing into view on ropes and vines
  • Afterwards watch a short film about the orangutan's rehabilitation process in the reserve's interpretation centre
Day 10 Sandakan
  • Sandakan On your way to the airport, stop by the Sandakan War Memorial where you'll get insight into the city's past at the emotive War Memorial, built on the site of a Japanese POW camp. This site also marks the starting point of the tragic Sandakan Death Marches, on which 2,400 POWs were forced to walk through the jungles of Borneo
  • Departure Board your flight home to Australia
